Tony Leon’s Resolve Communications ran a negative campaign against a sitting cabinet minister after he refused to meet its client. Former environment minister Dion George is convinced of it, tellingIOLan email it put to him proved his point all along. He was removed from his post seven weeks after the email was sent.
Account manager Victoria Tompkins, responding for Resolve, toldIOLthe claim of a campaign was a fiction and part of an attempt to smear the firm. The email, seen byIOLand confirmed by Resolve, is dated September 22 2025 and was sent by Tompkins. Tompkins is a former DA staff member who worked as an opposition researcher at the party’s federal head office.
In the email, she offered a news publication an opinion piece for publication, written by Stacey Jansen, a director of Redisa. Redisa is the Recycling and Economic Development Initiative of SA, and at that stage it was in litigation with George’s department. The piece being pitched argued there was a leadership vacuum in the department of forestry, fisheries and the environment.

That vacuum, the email said, had recently been noticed in the review of the National Waste Management Strategy, which was then under way. “I think that this is particularly newsworthy as minister [Dion] George is publicly defending his performance what with the rumours of a possible cabinet reshuffle being published in Sunday Times this past weekend,” she wrote at the time.
