March and March leader Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma has strongly denied allegations that the movement receives funding from political parties or businesses, saying its operations are sustained through crowdfunding and merchandise sales. Her comments come amid growing scrutiny of the organisation’s finances and speculation about possible links to political parties, claims both March and March and ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba have rejected. Asked to identify the business that funded the media briefing, Ngobese-Zuma said the company did not want publicity around its once-off sponsorship. “They did not want to be identified. They assisted once, and we have not received any more funding from them,” she said.

Her response comes amid growing speculation and questions about the movement’s funding model and how it sustains its national operations. Claims that the movement may be funded by ActionSA — one of its key supporters — have also been dismissed by party leader Herman Mashaba. “ActionSA is on record as supporting March and March in its efforts to ask the GNU to deal effectively with the threat of illegal, undocumented foreign nationals. But we do not fund them — we need funding ourselves,” Mashaba said.
