Zimbabwe is making a strong case for its inclusion in the global artificial intelligence (AI) revolution, with Minister of Skills Audit and Development Professor Paul Mavima, representing the country at the ongoing Global AI Summit on Africa in Rwanda Professor Mavima emphasized the need for Zimbabwe to keep pace with the rapidly evolving AI landscape, saying, “Zimbabwe should not be left behind on AI We should adapt, cooperate, and compete.”
He stressed that embracing AI is crucial for the country’s economic growth, development, and global competitiveness To achieve this goal, the Minister called for a concerted effort from all stakeholders, including government, private sector, academia, and civil society
“We need to work together to agree on the architecture and essential elements of our AI strategy, and then invest in the necessary infrastructure and talent,” he said Professor Mavima highlighted the importance of having a supportive policy and regulatory framework in place to facilitate the adoption and development of AI in Zimbabwe This, he said, would help create an enabling environment for innovation, entrepreneurship, and investment in the AI sector Professor Mavima is currently representing Zimbabwe in the global ai summit on Africa ongoing in Rwanda
