POLICE in Marange have arrested five suspects in connection with the theft of nearly 500 litres of diesel from Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company (ZCDC) excavators at diamond fields in Chiadzwa. Solomon Manjokota, 47, Remember Dube, 34, Dennis Chiyadzwa, 34, Nyondeni Malunga, 28, and Blessing Madhosi, all of Marange, are alleged to have stolen the fuel. Acting Manicaland Police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, confirmed the arrest.

He said alert ZCDC security personnel ambushed Manjokota, who was ferrying some fuel to Madhosi’s shop. He led police to Madhosi’s shop and fuel, valued at US$960, was recovered. “On June 3 2026, a report of theft of diesel was received at ZRP Marange from ZCDC Chiadzwa Diamond Fields, to the effect that approximately 480 litres of diesel had been stolen by means of siphoning from company excavators.

“Police attended the scene with no leads and recoveries made. “On June 7, 2026, Didymus Mudzengerere a ZCDC official received a tip-off in connection with the stolen diesel and advised his security guards who laid an ambush. “They managed to apprehend Manjokota, who had been tasked by Dube, Chiyadzwa and Malunga to carry the stolen diesel using his motor vehicle in plastic containers to Mutsago Business Centre where they wanted to sell it to Madhosi.

“Manjokota, upon being interrogated by the security guards, then implicated his other accomplices. “Manjokota was then handed to Mudzengerere who then advised ZRP Marange. Police attended the scene and managed to arrest Dube, Chiyadzwa and Malunga and Madhosi.

“On June 8, 2026, the suspects were taken for indications and that is when Chiyadzwa implicated as the one whom they had supplied the stolen diesel to and she was also arrested. “480 litres of diesel was recovered at Madhosi’s shop at Mutsago Business Centre. The total value stolen is US$960 and all was recovered. Investigations are still on going,” said Asst Insp Chinyoka.
