In a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Godfrey Chilabi, the Service clarified that comments being circulated and attributed to Inspector General of Police Graphel Musamba regarding Mr. Mulundu’s transfer were fabricated. “The Inspector General of Police has not granted any interview to any media institution or individual concerning the transfer of Mr.

Mulundu or recent incidents in Chawama,” Chilabi said. He stressed that all statements attributed to the Inspector General on the matter were “false, misleading, and should be disregarded.” According to Chilabi, Mulundu’s transfer, along with those of several other senior officers from police stations within Lusaka Division, was part of an ongoing personnel rotation exercise that had been planned before the recent unrest in Chawama. “The transfer of Mr.

Mulundu, together with other senior officers from various police stations within Lusaka Division, forms part of routine personnel rotation arrangements that were already under consideration before the recent violent incident in Chawama Compound,” Chilabi said. He added that attempts to associate the transfers with the violence were inaccurate and misleading. He reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to professionalism, impartiality and the maintenance of law and order across the country.
