The Bikwe International Hike third edition will this year change the trailhead to start from the vintage point of Nkwe gorge in Mogonye. The hike, scheduled for Saturday will cover a 20 kilometres’ journey through Botswana’s rich natural tapestry and it will start at 0530 in the morning. In 2025 the hike started from Bikwe Kgotla side.
According to one of the organisers Tiro Kganela, the hike is expected to attract over 300 hikers from Botswana, Lesotho, South Africa and Zimbabwe. Kganela indicated that the growing cross border event is more than just a physical challenge, but a celebration of regional unity, wellness, tourism and nature appreciation. The hike echoes a collective stride towards sustainable sport tourism in the region.
The new trail he says will meander towards Manyelanong West, Botswana’s second highest peak. The terrain is flat, hilly, sandy, rocky and rainforest, he said. It offers an immersive nature experience as the trail winds through scenic valleys, rock formations and woodlands, Kganela concluded.ENDS
