Kariba — The Procurement Regulation Authority of Zimbabwe (PRAZ) has called on public accountants to prioritize transparency in managing public funds This was emphasized during a three-day workshop hosted by the Institute of Administration and Commerce, attended by government finance, HR, and procurement professionals PRAZprocurement specialist Tatenda Siziba stressed that transparency fosters public trust and inclusivity He introduced a new e-learning system to streamline procurement and announced a forthcoming bill to simplify public procurement processes and support ethical business practices

Dr Tirivangani Matare, representing Minister of StateMarian Chombo, addressed the workshop’s theme, “Innovating with Integrity,” aligning it with Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030 He highlighted accountants’ crucial role in ensuring public funds are used effectively, especially amid the government’s devolution efforts Concerns over delayed procurement of agricultural inputs in Mashonaland West were also discussed, with a call for innovative, timely solutions that uphold accountability

Matare praised the Institute’s commitment to international standards and urged attendees to uphold integrity in their work, adding, “You are the guardians of public resources—every transaction must be clear, and every expenditure justified.”
