It’s all systems go for the 66th running of the biggest horse jamboree the Castle Tankard at Borrowdale Race Course tomorrow. This year 20 runners will be under the spotlight as they compete for the US$50 000 winner’s cheque for over 2000 meters. Award winning trainer Debra Swanson is fielding nine horses underlining her dominance in local horse racing.
The event, running under the theme “Live It. Share It”, will celebrate both the sport and musical talent as organisers have included youthful entertainers for the after party. However, showbiz torch-bearer Alick Macheso who has become a household name at the event is also billed to perform at the prestigious event.
Nisha Ts who is being retained as the only female artist, Madedido, Jah Master, and Uncle Epaton are also part of the line-up. An interesting addition to the lineup is Progress Chipfumo, who has been in the game for years and has been rewarded for his consistency with a slot. “We are all set for the iconic event that brings together the best of Zimbabwean and regional horse racing, alongside local music acts–with Castle Lager at the centre of the experience.
