The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched a nationwide crackdown targeting touting, unroadworthy vehicles, and reckless driving, warning offenders that there will be no leniency during the Heroes and Defence Forces Holidays Commissioner-General of Police Stephen Mutamba, in his holiday message, urged citizens to maintain peace and abide by the law, saying police would be heavily deployed across the country “My office calls upon all Zimbabweans to observe peace throughout the period in order to assist in the maintenance of law and order,” he said Mutamba said roadblocks, stop-and-search blitzes, patrols, and awareness campaigns would be intensified

He stressed the need for strict adherence to road safety regulations, citing the recent Seke Road accident as a grim reminder of the consequences of negligence “The Zimbabwe Republic Police will therefore impound all unroadworthy vehicles for the safety of Zimbabweans,” he said, warning that vehicles without number plates will also be seized without exception He condemned the illegal fitting of blue lights, sirens, or bar lights on vehicles, noting that such equipment is only authorised for specific state vehicles “Those found wanting shall be arrested and vehicles impounded,” he declared

Public Service Vehicle operators were reminded to stick to their route permits, avoid overloading, speeding, and dangerous overtaking, and ensure that touts are not employed to harass passengers “Any Public Service Vehicle operator who employs touts or allows them to harass passengers using their company name will be held accountable by the Police,” Mutamba warned The ZRP has also deployed specialised teams to track armed robbery syndicates and drug peddlers, encouraging the public to report crimes via police stations or national hotlines “Finally, on behalf of the Zimbabwe Republic Police, I wish all Zimbabweans a safe Heroes and Defence Forces Holiday,” Mutamba concluded
