Two suspects were arrested during a massive dagga bust worth R6m, with drugs weighing over a tonne, on Wednesday morning, May 6. Graskop police acted on a credible tip-off about a suspicious Toyota Quantum reportedly travelling towards the area with Mpumalanga registration plates. A patrol vehicle was deployed to monitor the vehicle before officers moved in to stop it.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson Captain Mpho Nonyane-Mpe said a subsequent search of the taxi led to the discovery of several bags of dagga, weighing approximately 1 025.36kg. “The two suspects, aged 26 and 28, were arrested on the spot. They face charges of possession of dagga and dealing in dagga,” she said.
The duo is expected to appear in the Graskop Magistrate’s Court soon. Add The Citizen as a preferred source to see more from Lowvelder in Google News and Top Stories.
