One of South Africa’s most iconic motoring events reaches a remarkable milestone this year as the Vintage Sports Car Club Standard Bank Cars in the Park 2026 celebrates its 50th anniversary on May 31, at the Race Coast Training Centre in Ashburton, Pietermaritzburg. Recognised as South Africa’s oldest car showcase, Cars in the Park has been bringing together motoring enthusiasts for half a century. The landmark anniversary promises a day celebrating automotive heritage, craftsmanship and community.

Hosted by the Vintage Sports Car Club and supported by title sponsor Standard Bank, Cars in the Park remains the flagship event on the club’s calendar and one of KwaZulu-Natal’s most anticipated motoring gatherings. Each year the event attracts over 10 000 visitors, who come to admire vehicles spanning generations — from restored vintage classics and collector’s cars to high-performance sports cars, motorcycles and custom builds. To mark the 50th anniversary, organisers promise an even bigger and more diverse showcase celebrating five decades of motoring heritage.

Cars in the Park offers more than just vehicles. Visitors can browse a flea market, enjoy food stalls and live music, with entertainment for children ensuring younger visitors are kept busy while parents explore the vehicle displays. Vehicle owners wishing to exhibit can register online at www.carsinthepark.net or by emailing[email protected].
