Zimbabwe-based Malawian forward Binwell Katinji says he was delighted to end giants Dynamos’ unbeaten run with a brace on Sunday. The former Silver Strikers hitman was the toast of the afternoon for Chicken Inn as they beat Dembare 2-1 to hand the Harare giants their first defeat after nine matches in the Castle Lager Premier League. Prior to the match, Dynamos, who also have a Malawian midfielder Stanley Billiat in their fold, were one of the two teams yet to taste defeat this season.

In an interview yesterday, Katinji who took his tally to three goals, said he was excited because the odds were stacked against them considering Dynamos’ fine run. “We were also coming from two successive defeats against Bulawayo Chiefs and Highlanders. But we picked ourselves up and went flat out and that coupled with my brace, spiced up the occasion,” he said.

According to soccer24.co.zw, Katinji scored the opener in the 20th minute, but the visitors restored parity in the 38th minute through Moses Demera. The on-and-off Malawi international struck again in the second half, sealing the victory for the Gamecocks, who moved to eighth place with 15 points in the 18-team league. Elsewhere, Simba Bhora, the team which Malawian duo of goalkeeper William Thole and defender Lawrence Chaziya play for, also handed Scotland FC their first defeat with a 2-1 win.
