Region 5 delights in Faith’s feat

The African Union Sports Council (Ausc) Region 5 has hailed Sweden-based Malawian blossoming women’s football star Faith Chinzimu for becoming the first player from the region to win the inaugural Uefa Women’s Europa Cup. The teenage Scorchers’ midfielder achieved the feat after her team BK Hacken beat fellow Swedish giants Hammarby 4-2 on aggregate in a two-legged final. The only other African player who turns out for BK Hacken is Nigerian Halimatu Ayinde.

In a statement, Ausc Region 5 says they are proud of Faith’s feat. Reads the statement: “History is not a moment. It’s a movement.

Faith Chinzimu has done more than win the Uefa Women’s Europa Cup. “She has opened a door. From Malawi to Europe, this is what Region 5 talent looks like when given opportunity.
