The story of rising soccer star Relebohile Mofokeng, who plays for Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana, is one of a dream passed down through generations. Sedibeng Sterreportsthat, according to his father, Sechaba, the young player is simply picking up right where his father left off on the pitch. Sechaba was a highly talented player from the Vaal region, turning out for local teams such as the now-defunct Evalasting FC and Transvaal X20 FC.
Starting on the dusty soccer grounds of Sharpeville, Sechaba never imagined his own journey would one day be continued by his son. His rise continued when he joined Esco Juventus FC and Umtata Liverpool FC in the Vodacom League, now known as the ABC Motsepe League. Many fans still remember Sechaba for an incredible stunner of a goal he scored for Tembu Royals FC against Premier Soccer League side AmaZulu in the last 32 of the Nedbank Cup.
The strike remains one of the competition’s best-remembered goals. In an exclusive interview withSedibeng Ster Sport, Sechaba said watching Relebohile play is like looking in a mirror. He expressed immense pride in his son, noting that Relebohile has already achieved more than he did at the same age and is further ahead in his career.

“Rele is going places because of the discipline and respect he has for everyone. Apart from scoring goals, he is such a good passer of the ball, always finding his teammates with those passes.” The proud father also shared that Relebohile remains grounded at home, still helping out with chores such as washing dishes, just as he did while growing up.
