The upgrade is expected to extend the lifespan of the road while reducing maintenance costs.Rehabilitation and Widening of Harare-Mutare Road (Bridgevale to Ngundu)This sectionisundergoing full rehabilitation and widening to ease traffic congestion and improve safety for heavy haulage trucks that ply the vital trade corridor linking Zimbabwe to Mozambique.Wedza-Sadza Road Construction ProjectThe newly tarred Wedza-Sadza road is set to enhance rural connectivity, providing farmers with smoother access to markets and reducing post-harvest losses.
The project is part of Government’s drive to open up agricultural zones and support rural livelihoods.Harare Drive and Airport Road Interchange ConstructionBird’s eye view:Graphic illustration of the interchangeA newinterchange is under construction at the junction of Harare Drive and Airport Road to ease traffic flow and reduce bottlenecks for travelers to and from Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport. The interchange is expected to improve both urban mobility and the country’s image for arriving visitors.The Ministry says the simultaneous execution of multiple projects shows government’s commitment to infrastructure led growth under National Development Strategy 1. Contractors have been urged to maintain quality while meeting deadlines, with regular inspections being conducted by the Roads Directorate.For road users, the improvements promise reduced vehicle operating costs, shorter travel times and enhanced safety.
