NewsBy Nyasha ChumaDOMBOSHAVA— Police in Mashonaland East are investigating a case of culpable homicide after the body of a man was discovered in a consignment of quarry stones being delivered by a tipper truck on Monday.Mashonaland East Provincial Police Spokesperson, Inspector Simon Chazovachii, confirmed the incident.“Police are investigating a culpable homicide case in Domboshava,” said Insp Chazovachii.He said 34-year-old Showman Rusava, of Mungate Village, had earlier flagged down a truck driven by Mr Kumbirai Chikwama, 38, of Muzavazi Village under Chief Chinamhora, at the Consortium turn-off along the Harare-Domboshava Road.“At the Consortium turn-off, along the Harare-Domboshava Road, the now deceased, who was visibly drunk, waved and stopped the truck,” Insp Chazovachii said.“He asked for a lift to Domboshava.”Mr Chikwama, who is self-employed and offers his eight-tonne tipper truck for hire to transport building materials in Domboshava and parts of Borrowdale, agreed to assist Rusava. He instructed him to ride in the vehicle’s empty loading box as other passengers were seated in the front.At around 1300 hours, Mr Chikwama arrived at Zimbiru Business Centre and parked at his usual spot while waiting for another hire. He later left the vehicle to attend to personal errands, assuming the deceased had disembarked.“At around 1350 hours, the driver was hired over the phone by a local client, who wanted nine cubic metres of crusher-run quarry stones,” said Insp Chazovachii.Mr Chikwama proceeded to a local supplier where the truck was loaded with quarry stones in three stages by a front loader operator, totalling nine cubic metres.
