The brother of a 22-year-old Amaoti woman was arrested after he allegedly stabbed her following a dispute while she was preparing milk for her infant children. Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) spokesperson Prem Balram said their members along with police responded to the scene after receiving a call for assistance just after 2 pm. “The victim informed reaction officers that she was at her residence with her two children, aged one month and three years old, when an argument broke out between her and her elder brother,” Balram said.

The dispute allegedly started after she questioned him for switching off the stove while she was preparing milk for the infant. Balram said during the altercation, the suspect allegedly assaulted the victim before arming himself with a kitchen knife and stabbing her in the head. “He thereafter fled the scene and discarded the weapon in nearby bushes.

The suspect was later arrested by police after returning to the residence,” said Balram. The victim sustained injuries in the attack and was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
