Civil Aviation Authority probes alleged unauthorized use of helicopter by UPND supporter

The Zambia Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said on Wednesday it was investigating reports that a helicopter with registration number 9J-TOM may have landed at a residential property without the required flight approvals. The helicopter drew attention after Emmanuel Kasambo, a donor to the United Party for National Development (UPND), was seen disembarking from the aircraft while displaying ruling party symbols. “In line with its statutory mandate, the Authority has initiated a formal investigation.

CAA inspectors have been deployed to verify the circumstances, establish the facts surrounding this incident, and to ensure full compliance with aviation safety and security requirements,” said Public Relations Manager Sepiso Mukubesa Zimba in a statement.
