As the Easter holiday approaches, marking the first major travel peak of 2026, Fastjet is gearing up for a significant influx of passengers across its regional network. Traditionally the busiest period of the early year, Easter sees a massive movement of people, and this year is no exception. In Zimbabwe, high demand is centered on key domestic routes connecting Harare, Bulawayo, and Victoria Falls, while regional hubs like OR Tambo International and Robert Gabriel Mugabe International are already reporting high footfall.
While the holiday spirit is high, the airline is currently navigating the logistical hurdles that often accompany such peak periods. Following “knock-on effects” from operational disruptions experienced on Wednesday, April 1st, Fastjet issued a formal travel update this Thursday to manage passenger expectations. The airline acknowledged that while they are working tirelessly to restore normalcy, some flights may still face delays or schedule adjustments as the schedule recovers.
In an official statement, the carrier urged travelers to remain proactive: “Due to the knock-on effects from yesterday’s operational disruptions, some fastjet flights today may be delayed or subject to schedule changes. Passengers are kindly requested to proceed to the airport as planned, where our teams will be available to assist.” Speaking to this publication this Thursday, Fastjet Zimbabwe Spokesperson, Mr. Nunurai Ndawana, emphasized the importance of real-time communication to mitigate the stress of holiday travel.

He highlighted that staying informed is the best defense against the uncertainty of delays. As the airline works to minimize further impact across its network, it has reinforced its customer support channels. Despite the initial hiccups, Fastjet remains committed to connecting families and holidaymakers across the region this Easter.
