SA flavour adds intrigue to IPL clash

The Indian Premier League clash between Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals on Wednesday promises a thrilling contest, with a strong South African flavour adding extra intrigue. Proteas stars Anrich Nortje, Aiden Markram and Matthew Breetzke will don the Lucknow colours, while David Miller, Tristan Stubbs and Lungi Ngidi represent Delhi Capitals — setting up a fascinating battle between compatriots. Most of the South Africans were secured for approximately R4 million each, while Stubbs commands a significantly higher price tag of R20 million, proof of his growing reputation in the shortest format and the confidence Delhi have placed in his explosive abilities.

This encounter is set to be a clash of international teammates turned rivals. Nortje’s raw pace for Lucknow could test the composure of Miller, one of the most destructive finishers in world cricket, boasting more than 3 000 IPL runs.
