A 29-YEAR-OLD Makoni villager, who lured a 14-year-old schoolgirl into a sexual relationship, and later fled the village with her when the crime was discovered, has been jailed for 30 months. Takesure Mukora, of Machiridza Village, appeared before Rusape magistrate, Tendai Mahwe, facing one count of having sexual intercourse with a minor. He did not waste the court’s time and pleaded guilty to the allegations.Mahwe sentenced him to 36 months imprisonment before suspending six months for the next five years on condition that he does not commit a similar offence.
Prosecutor Faith Mutukwa told the court that the Form One pupil would sneak out her grandmother’s homestead during the night going to Mukora’s home, where he would abuse her.“On a date unknown to the prosecutor but during the month of March 2026, the complainant fell in love with the accused person. “During that time, the accused person would meet the complainant on her way from school. He would also invite her to his homestead during the night.
“On March 22, 2026, Mukora invited the complainant to his homestead, she went to the accused’s homestead’s during the night without her grandmother’s knowledge. “The matter came to light on the same day when the juvenile’s grandmother discovered the complainant was not at home during the night.” “The grandmother had earlier received information from a fellow villager that the juvenile was spending nights at the accused person’s homestead. “In the company of the informer, the juvenile’s grandfather went to Mukora’s homestead and found the juvenile sleeping on the same bed with Mukora.

“The juvenile refused to go back home. On the same day Mukora and the juvenile ran away from Machiridza Village and went to Dewedzo Village where they continued to have sexual intercourse several times. “The grandmother then informed the juvenile’s mother who reported the matter to the police, leading to Mukora’s arrest.” In a unrelated case, a 23-year-old man, Behaviour Boora, of Village 2 Chidamunyu, in Nyazura, was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment for having a sexual intercourse with 14-year-old Grade 6 learner for four months.
Mahwe sentenced Boora to 24 months in prison before suspending six months, for the next five years, on condition of good behaviour. “The accused person is the complainant’s boyfriend. Sometime in November 2025, the accused person proposed love to the juvenile and she accepted.“In December 2026, the accused person started having intercourse with the juvenile on different occasions.
