Ngcongo said while he has been encouraged by cleaner access roads and upgrades such as the revamped welcome wall along the R56 into the CBD, municipal workers continue to report incidents of illegal dumping — even in areas where waste disposal facilities are available. He said the municipality has also rolled out a grass-cutting programme in residential areas, which has been well received, and extended clean-up initiatives to rural areas.
