Patriotic Front (PF) president, Makebi Zulu, has condemned his detention at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (KKIA) on Saturday, describing the incident as “extremely unfortunate.” Zulu was prevented from travelling to South Africa, a move that sparked outrage among PF supporters. He alleged that his rights and freedoms as a citizen had been violated, questioning why the government would expect him to notify them before travelling. “There is no law that demands we have to notify politicians in government of our intent to travel and the purpose thereof,” Zulu said.

He vowed that such acts of “political cowardice” would not be tolerated in what he called the “New Zambia,” reiterating his resolve to pursue his political ambitions. “We shall begin to build on the 13th of August this year when we retake government,” he declared.
