GOSPEL powerhouse Mathias Mhere is pulling out all the stops for his next birthday bash. He is rolling out a high-stakes celebration packed with a blockbuster DVD recording, a new album launch and a star-studded show set to shake the gospel scene. The Favour hitmaker, born June 13, 1988, in Mukaro, Gutu district, is turning his personal milestone into a full-scale musical explosion — and he is investing heavily to make it unforgettable.

“June is my month. I celebrate life and reflect on my journey,” said Mhere. “It’s always the time I launch new projects and meet my fans on home soil.” After keeping a low profile on releases last year, move that left his loyal fan base hungry for fresh music, the Saints of God leader is now staging a dramatic comeback.

“We are at an advanced stage with preparations. It’s not just a DVD recording — we are also launching a new album on the same day,” he revealed. Insiders say the show is shaping up to be a gospel extravaganza, with Mhere hinting at appearances from top-tier collaborators including Janet Manyowa, Takesure Zamar Ncube, Canaan Nyathi, Larry Gunda and renowned ensemble Joyfull Praise Choir.

“It’s about celebrating together as a gospel family. These are people I’ve built strong relationships with,” he said. Beyond the glamour, Mhere insists his mission remains rooted in faith and purpose “Gospel music heals and speaks to the soul.

As artists, we have a responsibility to help reduce crime and violence through our message,” he said. The past year saw the singer globe-trotting, with tours taking him to Dubai, Australia, the United Kingdom and South Africa, even as he held back on new releases. “I was travelling a lot.

I know I did less musically, but 2026 is different — I’m pushing harder,” he said. From humble beginnings in rural Masvingo to being groomed in Gweru and eventually finding fame in Harare, Mhere’s journey reads like a script of faith and perseverance.
