Johannesburg CBD shooting: Police say victim was followed

A woman who was fatally shot today in the Johannesburg CBD was allegedly followed by her attackers. The victim (35), who was killed at the corner of Fox and Joubert streets, is believed to be a lawyer who wason her way to a meeting at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitrationbuilding on Fox Street. This is according to a spokesperson for Vision Tactical, who did not want to be named.

“She was fatally shot in full view of the public,” adds the spokesperson. Tintswalo Sibeko, the spokesperson for Gauteng police, says police received a report about the incident and, on arrival at the scene, found the body of the woman. “She had sustained gunshot wounds and was declared dead at the scene,” she adds.

Sibeko says preliminary reports indicate that the deceased was allegedly followed by two unknown people who opened fire on her before fleeing the scene on foot. “Police are investigating a case of murder. The motive for the attack will form part of investigations.

No arrests have been made at this stage,” Sibeko adds.
