The Kabwe Magistrate court has adjourned a matter in which a 35-year-old man of Kabwe District is charged for harassment and humiliation of Central Province Minister Mwabashike Nkulukusa to April 13, 2026 for the continuation of trial. Bernard Mbesuma of Pollen Township stands charged with one count of harassment and humiliation contrary to 22(a) of the Cyber Crimes Act No.4 of 2025 of the laws of Zambia. When the matter came up before Resident Magistrate Liswaniso Wamundila for commencement of trial, the court adjourned the matter because the prosecution could not proceed with the matter.
Public Prosecutor, Wisdom Mulinda told the court that the state could not proceed with trial as major witnesses in the matter were not present as they were engaged with other national duties. Facts before the court are that Mbesuma on 26th January 2026, in Kabwe District did use a computer system namely, WhatsApp to publish electronic data that was vulgar with intent to humiliate or harass Mwabashike Nkulukusa, who is also Katuba Member of Parliament, thereby causing emotional distress and humiliation. Mbesuma denied the charge and pleaded not guilty to the offence.
The matter is being prosecuted by Public Prosecutor, Wisdom Mulinda of the National Prosecution Authority (NPA) while Mbesuma is being represented by Jonathan Chibangu of Bacroft Legal Practitioners. The court has since extended Mbesuma’s police bond. Shouldn’t the minister grow up ??
