The EMPD conducted a permit verification and enforcement operation targeting illegal trading in Primrose on March 11. According to a statement released by EMPD, officers from the By-Law Compliance Unit carried out the operation along Mimosa Street towards Pretoria Road to ensure informal traders were operating with valid permits. During the operation, officers confiscated both perishable and non-perishable goods from traders found operating on the roadside without valid trading permits.
The items were seized in line with municipal by-law enforcement. Registered traders whose permits were close to expiring were issued verbal warnings and reminded to renew their documentation to avoid enforcement action. All confiscated goods were transported to the Boksburg pound for safekeeping.
The EMPD reminded informal traders to ensure they possess valid documentation when conducting business, warning that goods may be confiscated if traders fail to comply with municipal regulations.
