Govt. reiterates commitment to improve youths welfare

Mr Mpundu says youths should therefore take advantage of the opportunities the government has put in place to contribute to economic development. He challenged the youths to rise and make a difference in society. The media reports that Mr Mpundu was speaking when he graced this year’s Youth Day celebrations under the theme “Arise and soar”.

He said this year’s theme is a reminder for the youths to dream big and rise above their challenges in shaping a better Zambia. “Do not involve yourselves in violence and stay away from those who incite violence,” Mr Mpundu said. And representing the youths, Sara Kangwa from Kasama College of Education, said youths are ready to be innovative and determined to contribute to development.

Ms Kangwa urged the youths to break barriers in order to rise and soar in line with this year’s theme. She has, however, thanked the government for many initiatives for the youths countrywide. Ms Kangwa thanked government for the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) bursaries, which have reduced the financial burden on families and helped youths to acquire skills.
