South Africa’s economy grew 0.4% in the fourth quarter of 2025 in quarter-on-quarter seasonally-adjusted terms, statistics agency data showed on Tuesday. * That was slightly faster than the 0.3% growth predicted in a Reuters poll of economists.
* In year-on-year terms Africa’s biggest economy grew 0.8%in the fourth quarter, slower than the 1.8% growth forecast in the Reuters poll. * Growth for 2025 as a whole came in at 1.1%, below recent estimates from both the South African Reserve Bank (1.3%) and National Treasury (1.4%) * South Africa’s coalition government is trying to lift the growth rate after it has averaged less than 1% annually over the past decade * Investor sentiment improved last year on confidence in the government’s fiscal management and its commitment to keeping inflation low
