The Republic of Türkiye is extending humanitarian assistance to communities affected by the recent floods in Mozambique through its official institutions and civil society organizations, in coordination with the competent Mozambican authorities, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and the National Institute for Disaster Risk Management and Reduction (INGD). The support is provided by Türkiye’s official institutions, namely the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV), and the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), as well as the Turkish civil society organization registered in Mozambique, Fundação da Irmandade. In total, 257.2 tons of humanitarian assistance valued at USD 316,000 are being delivered to affected communities, particularly in Gaza, Inhambane and Maputo.
Additional humanitarian aid, as well as further support in the areas of seeds and water pumps, is foreseen in the coming months. At the symbolic ceremony held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation attended by Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and the Mozambican Community Abroad, Maria de Fátima Simão Manso; Ferhat Alkan, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Mozambique, stated that Türkiye reaffirms its solidarity with the Government and the people of Mozambique during this challenging time.
