SEKURU Amos Kafera, a well-known traditional healer in Chitungwiza, says he fears for his life as drugs are transforming a lot of people into dangerous individuals in the sprawling dormitory town. Speaking at the Relaunch of the Police Client Service Charter, he said the residents of Chitungwiza were now living in fear. “Our communities are living in fear,” Sekuru Kafera said.

“I fear for my safety.It’s imperative that we come together, expose those supplying drugs, arrest them, and destroy their bases.” Chief Superintendent Ushe, from Harare North District, described drug abuse as a “new cancer” afflicting society, especially the youths. “The effects are severe — health crises, financial ruin and shattered relationships. “As law enforcement, we are dedicated to raising awareness and apprehending those involved in drug trafficking.” Chief Superintendent Severino Muguti, the Commanding Officer of Chitungwiza District, reported substantial progress since the Client Service Charter’s relaunch by the Commissioner General of Police.

“In just thirty-five weeks, we’ve made significant arrests – a murder suspect was captured in Unit L another one in Unit M, a rapist at an apostolic shrine, and 95 arrested for drug-related offenses.” “We are here to serve, to renew our covenant with the people of Chitungwiza. Moving on to traffic enforcement, Chief Superintendent Muguti assured the guests that police’s commitment to fairness. “Our focus is on road safety, not harassment. We aim to improve visibility on major roads and address traffic issues while treating every road user with respect.” The event drew various traditionalists, including the Dzamauruka Mbira Band, led by Priscila Wadyewata, who brought an energetic spirit to the gathering.Their vibrant performance almost transformed the occasion into a celebration, drawing attention from the crowd.Leading the performance was young dancer Avin Chiveza, whose energetic movements captivated guests.
