Lwandamina’s appointment follows FAZ’s decision to relieve Moses Sichone of his duties in the aftermath of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco. FAZ Acting Deputy General-Secretary, Iva Lengwe, said in a statement that the changes were aimed at enhancing efficiency and strengthening the team’s performance. Lengwe said Lwandamina would serve in an interim capacity and would be assisted by Oswald Mutapa Jr., who is the head coach of Power Dynamos.
Lwandamina previously served as Chipolopolo coach between 2015 and 2016 before making way for Wedson Nyirenda. FAZ has also relieved Perry Mutapa of his duties as assistant coach after he served on the national team’s technical bench during the AFCON tournament. “Only the positions of head coach and first assistant have been affected by these changes.
The rest of the technical bench remains unchanged and will continue carrying out their respective responsibilities,” Lengwe said. He added that the adjustments took effect immediately. Lwandamina’s immediate assignment will be to lead Chipolopolo at the Four-Nation Tournament scheduled to take place in Francistown, Botswana, from March 23 to 31, 2026.
