Midvaal tars seven roads in R22m infrastructure upgrade

In a move to reinforce infrastructure development in Midvaal Local Municipality, seven gravel roads have been tarred at a total cost of R22m. The roads include Takbok, Steenbok, Waterbok, and Bloubok Roads in Highbury, Lorentz Street in Meyerton Extensions, Eben Donges Street in Kookrus, and Willie van der Merwe Street in Riversdale. The project has not only resulted in infrastructure upgrades for the benefit of the Midvaal community, but it also created jobs for 20 people, including 18 labourers and two Community Liaison Officers (CLOs).

Midvaal says such projects reiterate its commitment to delivering excellent service and highlight its commitment to investing in infrastructure development. “The scope of work included site establishment, clearing, grubbing of road reserve, and roadbed preparation, as well as compaction. It further included the construction of subbase and base layers, stabilisation, and the construction of kerbs and channels.
