More than a month has passed since Dwayne David Nash (45) went missing. He was last seen leaving his rental unit at a bed and breakfast on February 4.

He told domestic workers he would be away for a week and would not require cleaning services.

The mystery surrounding his disappearance deepened last Thursday, February 26, when his vehicle, a white Daihatsu Rocky, was discovered abandoned and stripped in a plantation between White River and Hazyview.

When Lowvelder visited the site, the vehicle stood like a shell in the undergrowth. Its engine, gearbox, propshaft, two front tyres, and exterior trim were missing.

A tree had fallen on the roof and an empty golf bag stood nearby.

Police spokesperson Captain Mpho Nonyane-Mpe confirmed the discovery of the vehicle and said it was towed to the White River SAPS premises on Tuesday, March 3, for further investigation.

Nash’s landlord, who asked not to be named, said he had submitted notice on February 1, claiming he had secured a new job and planned to relocate.

β€œHe said he would be in touch before leaving to confirm final arrangements,” he recalled.

According to him, Nash never revealed where he was heading or what opportunity awaited him.

By February 7, family members grew concerned when Nash failed to respond to WhatsApp messages.

His nephew, Heinrich Britz, said, β€œWe thought he would eventually reply, but silence stretched longer than usual.”
