The initiative directly benefits more than 150 families, corresponding to approximately 430 people currently sheltered at the two centres, helping to ease the difficulties faced during this particularly challenging period. During the handover ceremony, KARMOL representative Cumhur Aksoy emphasised that the donation of essential food items and hygiene kits “should help alleviate the difficulties faced by the families here.” Aksoy also expressed deep sorrow over the disaster that affected those communities. He added that “this is not just about distributing goods, but a gesture of sharing, solidarity, and recognition of the resilience shown by the affected communities.” In turn, the delegate of the Instituto Nacional de Gestão de Desastres (INGD), Sara Matchie, highlighted that KARMOL’s gesture underscores not only the importance of essential goods, but particularly the inclusion of items which, according to her, “are not always part of donations,” such as baby food and feminine hygiene kits, considered essential for the dignity and well-being of families.

Representing the beneficiaries, Lércia Munguambe expressed gratitude on behalf of the sheltered families, acknowledging the “significant impact of the donation at this moment of vulnerability.” KARMOL, co-owned by Karpowership and the Japanese shipping company MOL (Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd), owns and operates its own LNG fleet. With expertise and experience in the field, it aims to serve as a one-stop shop for LNG solutions for energy, as a single provider of the entire value chain including, but not limited to, LNG bunkering, transportation, delivery, regasification and power generation, with a mission to fuel life as needed. The first project of this KARMOL joint venture is in Mozambique.
