Botswana and Zambia Formalises Kazungula Bridge Authority

Zambia’s Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development, Mr Charles Milupi (left) and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Mr Noah Salakae after signing an addendum agreement between Botswana and Zambia, which formalised the establishment of the Kazungula Bridge Authority in Kasane yesterday. The two governments also agreed to sponsor the construction and operation of the Kazungula Bridge infrastructure with the Authority hosted on Botswana side while Zambia will retain the Executive Director position. The authority is a key milestone for regional integration and managing the operations of Kazungula One Stop Border Post.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Vice President and Minister of Finance, Mr Ndaba Gaolathe and ministers from both countries. The signing ceremony is a percusor to the launch of the Kazungula Bridge Authority by President Advocate Duma Boko and Zambia President Hakainde Hichilema today.
