A total of 3 000 illegal electricity connections were removed during a multi-agency operation conducted in Thembisa earlier today, February 18. The operation was carried out at Ehlanzeni Cemetery and surrounding areas by members of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Anti-Cable Theft Unit (Northern Region), the First Response Unit (FRU), Public Order Policing (POPs), and Northern Region precinct officers. They were joined by the Energy Revenue Enhancement Team, theSouth African Police Service(SAPS), Calvin Family Security, and Energy Operations and Maintenance.

Authorities confirmed that 3 000 illegal electricity connections were successfully removed as part of ongoing efforts to curb power theft and ensure a safer, more reliable electricity supply in the area.
