Sudden Death of Chamisa Ally Sparks Calls for Justice
By A Correspondent
The burial of Mr Amato Ndekere, a well-known opposition activist and ally of Nelson Chamisa from Chivi South, has been postponed to Saturday morning, August 9, 2025, following a family request for a postmortem examination to clarify the circumstances of his sudden death His sister, Mercy Ndekere, told Change Radio, “We would like to inform our relatives, friends, and community members that the burial of Mr Amato Ndekere has been rescheduled from Friday to Saturday.” She added, “The postponement was necessary as the family requested that our brother’s body undergo a postmortem at Masvingo General Hospital.”
Mr
Ndekere’s body will be transferred from Neshuro Hospital in Mwenezi, where he passed away, to Masvingo General Hospital for the postmortem scheduled at 10 AM on Saturday After the examination, his remains will be taken to his family home in Pedzisai Village 1, Ngundu, Chivi South for the funeral His death has raised suspicions among family members and the community On the evening of Tuesday, August 5, 2025, he collapsed at his home in Ngundu
Concerns have been voiced that he may have been poisoned by political adversaries or individuals who had threatened him in recent days, according to an anonymous family source Due to limited medical facilities in the marginalized Chivi South area, Mr Ndekere was admitted to Neshuro Hospital, where he sadly succumbed The family and community await the postmortem results, hoping they will provide much-needed clarity and closure regarding his untimely death
Honorable Amos Chibaya, a fellow opposition politician and close associate of Mr Ndekere, has called on citizens from Chivi South, Masvingo Province, and across Zimbabwe to come together to honor his legacy Given Mr Ndekere’s influence and standing in the community, a large turnout is expected as hundreds prepare to pay their respects and bid farewell to a respected leader
