Gibson MhakaWHILE the benefits of condoms in promoting sexual health are undeniable, one crucial issue remains largely ignored, proper disposal after being used. The careless disposal of used condoms is becoming a silent menace in relationships, often leading to fights between partners and sometimes even divorce. The discovery of used condoms serves as irrefutable evidence that a partner is cheating. What is even more worrying is when multiple condoms are found, leading the betrayed partner to count how many sessions may have occurred.A disturbing incident unfolded in the Mncwazini area, village 3, in Figtree, Matabeleland South province, when Sakhile Mpofu (22), along with her brother Somandla Moyo (25), brutally assaulted her boyfriend Never Mukuli (32) after she discovered used condoms in his bedroom.Sakhile flew into a rage when Mukuli failed to give her a proper explanation for the used condoms she found strewn all over his bedroom.Circumstance are that on 25 July 2025, at around 8pm, Sakhile and Mukuli were at Somandla’s place, looking lovey-dovey, when Somandla arrived. This did not go down with Somandla as Mukuli had not officially married his sister. An argument then arose between Somandla and Mukuli. To settle the misunderstanding, they agreed to go to Mukuli’s place, where Mukuli would give Somandla some money as compensation for his misdemeanour. Upon their arrival, Mukuli paid Somandla. However, as Sakhile entered Mukuli’s bedroom, she noticed several used condoms. Her mind ran wild as she counted them ad re-enacted in her mind, the steamy bedroom action that could have taken place in her absence.Another argument broke out, and when Mukuli failed to give a satisfactory reason for the condoms, Sakhile set upon him with resounding slaps.A no-holds brawl ensued between the two.Seeing that his sister was getting more than she had bargained for, Somandla picked up a log, entered Mukuli’s room, and allegedly struck him several times on the back and face.As a result, Mukuli sustained wounds to his face and complained of back pains. The matter was reported to the police in Figtree, and an investigation was carried out, leading to the arrest of the two siblings. The pair appeared before Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware charged with assault. They were not asked to plead and were remanded in custody until August 13.Sheila Nyathi appeared for the State.Share on FacebookPost on XFollow usSave
