Police in KwaZulu-Natal have renewed their call for public assistance in tracking down a wanted murder suspect who has managed to evade arrest for years. Syethemba Khubone, widely known as “Sinkwa”, is on the police’s wanted list for multiple murder cases allegedly committed in and around Creighton in the Harry Gwala District. KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said investigators have linked Khubone to a string of violent crimes spanning several years.
According to police, one of the incidents dates back to September 24, 2015, when Khubone allegedly shot and killed a woman at Sappi Forest. The woman, believed to be in her early 30s, was found with multiple gunshot wounds and declared dead at the scene. In another case, just after midnight on August 19, 2019, Khubone and an accomplice allegedly posed as police officers at a home in Ncakubana location.
When the homeowner refused to open the door, the suspects allegedly broke a window and opened fire. The 28-year-old victim later died in hospital. Netshiunda said the Ixopo Magistrate’s Court has issued three warrants for Khubone’s arrest, including one linked to a house robbery in which he and three accomplices allegedly robbed a victim of a firearm.
