The Nkomazi Local Municipality has urged residents in Malalane to report any roaming elephants when sighted, reportsMpumalanga News. The warning follows after a herd of elephants passed through Fish Eagle Bend near Kobwa Hall, damaging the electric fence along the Kruger National Park (KNP) boundary. The elephants were successfully driven back to the KNP by game rangers on Saturday.
The municipality said the rangers will remain in the area to monitor the situation until the damaged fence is repaired. Wildlife sightings in residential areas can be reported to the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency’s Wildlife Protection Services on 013 759 5531.
