The BBA Public Relations Officer, Thobo Tshosa, said Team Botswana’s build-up has followed a structured and extended programme. Speaking in a telephone interview, he noted that athletes have been in intensive preparation since early 2025, combining local training camps with regional competitions. He added that the squad had responded well to the demands of the programme and was in good physical condition ahead of the tournament.
Botswana has named a nine-player team for the championships. The men’s squad consists of Tefo Kabomo, Godknows Ketlhabanetswe, Tshepo Perekisi, Tumelo Moilwa, and Tsamorena Kgosidialwa. The women’s team includes Keletso Ntebela, Tsholofelo Willie, Tebogo Ndzinge, and Tessa Kabelo.
The team will compete under the guidance of coaches Oreeditse Thela and Keita Fukuda. Beyond the athletes, Tshosa said operational preparations had entered their final stage. With less than a week before the opening matches, attention has shifted to logistics and technical requirements. “To our fans: come out in February and be the ‘extra player’ for Team Botswana,” he said.
