Naomi Marongwe was not asked to plead when she appeared before Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo. The court heard that on October 15 last year, Marongwe and her husband, who is at large, connived to sell a Ford Ranger Double Cab to Chikwanha.

He paid US$10,282 and the couple wrote an agreement of sale knowing that the car documents were fake and fraudulent. The matter came to light on November 21 last year when the complainant was approached by ZIMRA officials who seized the vehicle citing that it was not in their system and all the papers used to bring the vehicle to Zimbabwe were fake. Chikwanha telephoned Marongwe and informed her of the matter but she blocked him and changed her cellphone numbers.

Chikwanha filed a police report and police carried out investigations and found out that Marongwe was hiding at a friend’s place in Randloph Park, Gweru. Marongwe is expected in court today for bail considerations.
