In a statement issued by Zambia Army spokesperson, Colonel Sydney Mwewa, the Army said Lance Corporal Zimba was officially discharged on January 16, 2026, in accordance with Section 21 of the Defence Act, Chapter 106 of the Laws of Zambia, read together with Regulation 9 (3), item (xviii) (a) of the Zambia Defence Force Regulations. Colonel Mwewa stated that the discharge followed findings of conduct deemed unbecoming of a member of the regular force, stressing that discipline and professionalism remained non-negotiable values within the Army. “The public is hereby advised that any statements, postings or activities associated with Mr Zimba are entirely his own and do not in any way represent the Zambia Army or the Defence Force,” Mwewa said.

The Army has also formally warned the former soldier to immediately stop posting old photographs of himself in military uniform, cautioning that failure to comply will attract further legal action. Colonel Mwewa reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to maintaining high standards of integrity and discipline, noting that decisive action will always be taken against any behaviour that undermined the values and image of the Defence Force.
