The Bishops Council of Zambia (BCZ) has called on Zambians to uphold peace, unity, and coexistence as the nation heads toward the August 2026 general elections. BCZ President, Bishop Martin Silwimba, said no political event or election outcome should divide the people of Zambia. He stressed that peace must remain the country’s guiding principle before, during, and after the polls.
“Election or no election, nothing should separate or divide the people of Zambia. We appeal to political players to join the Bishops Council of Zambia in preaching peace, love and coexistence wherever they go to campaign,” Silwimba said. He further appealed to citizens to support the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to ensure a smooth and peaceful electoral process, adding that trust in the electoral body was crucial to minimizing disputes.
Quoting John 17:21, Silwimba reminded Zambians that the goal of national unity should outweigh the desire to win elections. “In the end, it’s not about winning or losing, but about maintaining peace and unity. That they may all be one,” he said.
