President Donald Trump’s “Board of Peace”, unveiled at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland recently, is an exercise in 21st-century colonialism. I cannot understand how global elites, monarchies and authoritarian regimes would tolerate, let alone legitimise, this catastrophe of historic proportions. This body’s proposal for Gaza is not a plan for peace or freedom for Palestinians.
It is a blueprint for lasting occupation of Palestinian lands and the continued control and suppression of the Palestinian people. Trump, his imperial founding executive circle and the manufactured “Gaza executive board” of hand-picked technocrats possess no legitimacy. They do not represent Palestinians, nor do they have any right to determine the future of Palestinian land.
Global citizens must condemn and reject this absurd roadmap for Gaza and Palestine. The purpose of the Board of Peace, made up mainly of Trump’s family members and associates, is not to end Palestinian suffering or the Israeli occupation. Its true aim is to provide a technocratic coating for a new regime in Gaza, one that excludes Palestinians from meaningful self-determination. This is domination, carefully packaged for Trump and his ambitions.
