Yes, Rob Haswell, I agree fully. (The Witness, January 21). However, a point to ponder: If it wasn’t for the fact that Pat Lambie was targeted early on in his career (his immense talent recognised at schoolboy level at a school not known for producing rugby stars, let alone Springboks post school, Michaelhouse), by virtue of high balls (high tackles?), Sacha F.M.

would have been a yawn: Been there, seen that, done that. However, Sacha remains a phenomenon. For now, he is fine, despite his youthful exuberance.

But when the high balls start getting hoisted directly at him, that’s when we should start getting worried, and pray that World Rugby, with it’s often double-standard laws, will protect him. Because it did not protect Lambie. The world was robbed of a potential first ever rugby superstar. But it is what it is.
