BusinessNewsWorldBy Nigel PfundeThe 2025 Africa Billionaires List, released this week has excluded Zimbabwean telecoms magnate Strive Masiyiwa from its top 10, despite his longstanding status as one of the continent’s most prominent entrepreneurs.The list was dominated by billionaires from Nigeria and South Africa with Nigeria’s Aliko Dangote topping the list with an estimated $23.9 billion.South African luxury goods tycoon Johann Rupert and family were placed second with $14 billion, followed by Nicky Oppenheimer at $10.4 billion.Masiyiwa, founder of Econet Global, has frequently appeared in global and African wealth lists but did not break into this year’s top tier.The cut off for the 2025 list was $3 billion which was held jointly at ninth place by South Africa’s Koos Bekker and Egypt’s Mohamed Mansour.SA mining magnate and Sundowns Football club own sat on the bottom of the list.“The list shows concentration of ultra-wealth in Africa’s two largest economies.” Basing on the fact that the ten billionaires are from Nigeria, while three hail from South Africa.
