With only two days to go before the deadline which President Peter Mutharika gave for some institutions to relocate from Lilongwe elapses, the Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec) is the only one yet to move.
In Order Number 1 of 2025, which was made in October, Mutharika gave the institutions three months to act on the issue. Legal experts have since differed on whether Mec should relocate as directed by the President.
