The Sharks are already turning their attention to next weekend’s return clash in Durban after upsetting the Stormers 30-19 for their first-ever United Rugby Championship (URC) victory in Cape Town on Saturday night. The win marked arguably the Sharks’ best performance of the season. Coming into the match, the Durban side had struggled for consistency and were languishing 14th on the URC log, with just two wins, a draw and five losses.
They had also suffered a home defeat to the Lions earlier this month. Those expectations were turned on their head as the Sharks produced a dominant display, striking as early as the fourth minute and taking control of the contest. They led 17-12 at the break and never relinquished their advantage, pulling clear in the second half to seal a memorable coastal victory.
With the two sides set to meet again at Kings Park next weekend, Stormers will have an immediate opportunity to respond, while the Sharks will be keen to show that the Cape Town result was no once-off. “It was a great win for us, we were targeting this game.
